Oy... 1200 Watt ! Yes thats quite an amazing power supply. Even more amazing is the fact that we already reviewed a couple of these 1KW+ nuclear power plants. The product today comes from Tuniq, a division of Sunbeam Technology. They sell multiple products from coolers to casing as you probably know, we have tested a good number from them.

In their power supply line Tuniq recently released their Ensemble power supply in 1000 and 1200 watt offerings, we'll review the latter one. That's right .. 1200 Watt. In just a couple of years we went from generic 350 Watt power supplies towards the product we test today. Power consumption of PC's has gotten really out of hand, something the technology industry finally is picking up on as energy consuming products are hot and trendy.

Now believe it or not, but this 1200 Watt PSU is actually an energy friendly product .. it has everything to do with it's high efficiency topping out at 87%, no worries though, we'll explain and demonstrate that over the next view pages. Anyhow, it's good to see a strong lobby group in the CPU/GPU processor industry where we start to see performance to watt ratio's. Power consumption is getting more and more awareness and more efficient products [Ed - need to] meet that requirement.

The PSU we will be testing today is a really heavily built SLI/Crossfire ready piece of gear and certainly can chew up anything we throw at it (and we will). It's quad everything ready, an investment that'll last a long time as with this PSU your hardware can keep up with you for a while. It's connectors are nicely wrapped in a foil and looks and gives us that sturdy feeling you expect from a quality product.

The Tuniq Ensemble 1200 Watt Power Supply, a PSU with a good feature set with active PFC, short-protection and enough connectivity for the latest high-end components in your system, including PCI-Express 2.0 8 pin 12 volt rails meaning that this PSU is SLI, three-way SLI or CrossFire(X) ready.

As our tests will show one of the more notable features of this PSU is it's high efficiency level. According to the specs it's rated at ~87%, which is quite notable and surely important as Energy consumption of our PC's has grown massively over the past year or two. Right, let's head to the next page where we'll discuss some of the features after which we'll dive into a photo shoot, test and verdict.

Oh did I already mention that the unit is only 235 EUR ? Doesn't sound too bad eh ?
