The Lexa - Pre-Modified NZXT ATX PC case reviewYou've all seen, heard and some of you even bought a case designed by NZXT based on our reviews right? And there's no reason not to as they make seriously intriguing PC cases targeted at the enthusiast PC community. Can you remember some of them? The Guardian, Nemesis and their last one was Trinity. We reviewed all these cases as NZXT makes some pretty impressive stuff that we just love to take a closer look at. Today we bring you a review on, once again, a new case: the Lexa. Despite the fact you and I figured out that it must be getting harder and harder to design something original yet functional for the gamer, NZXT once again have outdone themselves, ladies and gents, the Lexa is what we'll be reviewing today and it's by far one of the best cases ever reviewed here on Guru3D.com.

Many of you desire a non-standard PC Case, face it... you are a visitor here at Guru3D.com, which means you yearn for the best hardware. One big deficit though, if you are one of those people who is, well, too lazy to case-mod. Or perhaps you have two left hands, do not like blood from sawing that steel while slicing and gutting your hands open, or simply do not have the time to make a case-mod. Then what to do? Luckily for us there are a few companies out there who saw this hole in the market that needed to be filled. You can pretty much buy anything of your liking these days for very acceptable prices as this market is becoming a huge one. NZXT is such a company. NZXT feels like todays case industry lacks distinctiveness because of the enormous amount of clones available. This is basically their belief and of course they are trying their hardest to build a name and reputation.

Well now, a couple of weeks ago I received some press info from NZXT, this time announcing their new Lexa series within their "Classic design" PC cases. When I saw the first product photo's I figured something like "man, this thing is going to be a huge product release." A casing with "Double Curves" and symmetry from every corner you look at it.

The first photo's were looking awesome.

Now then, we always dissect the naming of NZXT's products yet I wasn't able to find out what Lexa meant. So here's what the guys from NZXT had to say:

Lexa short for Alexandra ~ Cassandra . In Greek mythology, Cassandra ("she who entangles men") (also known as Alexandra) was a daughter of King Priam of Troy and his queen Hecuba, who captured the eye of Apollo and so was given the ability to see the future. However, when she did not return his love, he placed a curse on her so that no one would ever believe her predictions. Thus Cassandra foresees the destruction of Troy (she warns the Trojans about the Trojan Horse, the death of Agamemnon, and her own demise), but is unable to do anything about them. Coroebus and Othronus came to the aid of Troy out of love for Cassandra. Cassandra was the first to see the body of her brother Hector being brought back to the city.

Lexa kind of short word for typical US English for Luxury, luxurious.

And with that being said this is a well designed and greatly styled ATX, Micro-ATX and baby-ATX compatible PC case with three 120mm silent fans, two of which have blue LEDs active. Active thermal monitoring for your system, HD and CPU on a blue front integrated LCD display. It's buffed up with features like a reflective metallic front panel, aluminum chassis, it has "Stealth" Side Panels, it has a front (well right) panel for USB 2.0, Microphone, FireWire, headphone and last but not least it has 11 drive bays (4 5.25", 2 3.5" plus 5x3.5" for your HD's).

Other notable features have to be the lightweight design. I mean seriously, this case weight roughly 5 kilograms. Furthermore, more or less everything in this case is based on a screwless design, the HD's for example are fitted with plastic guides after which you can slide in your HD and lock it tightly (with ease) into the drivebay and that graphics card of your can be secured with a little clip.

Another huge plus is that "finally" there is manufacturer out there that understands the concept of a silent PC. The fans inside the PC seem to feed off 7 volts, you will hardly hear them as they rotate at 1100 RPM, so they run dead silent and hey the fans are protected by removable dust filters.

As the NZXT website states the design concept behind the Lexa perfect symmetry Hmmm, let's make some photo's ... Does all this sounds to good to be true ? Well .. let's find out and head on over to the next page where I'll give you a detailed look at the Lexa.
