Spire Pininfarina SP-ATX-PALU chassis reviewQuestion: what does Ferrari and a PC chassis have in common ? Up-to recently... nothing. But last week I got in contact with Spire who most of us know for their broad spectrum of coolers. Recently they introduced a power-supply range which they asked us to check out.

Once I received that product review inquiry I wanted to have a peek at the specification of that PSU. But then my eye hit something else. Now most of you do not know me personally (hey with 3.5 million unique readers each month chances are slim right?), but the ones that do know me know that I am all about speed. I have a fast motor-cycle, adore formula 1 and I think it's pretty safe to say that I have yet to miss one episode of Top Gear (hang in there Hammond  - he crashed a while ago yet is a long-time Guru3D visitor).

So with that in mind, you must understand that I love cars and like 90% of the men out there I have a fetish for Ferrari. The same goes for gorgeous women, fast cars and bikes, niche technology etc :)

All fun aside, back to the inquiry. So once I was on the Spire website to have a peek at that PSU I noticed that they were about to release another product... a PC chassis and it's designed by Pininfarina. So I shouted out; "YES!". Now again let's talk about chances and statistical anomalies. Chances are that 70% of you know who Pininfarina is, yet statistically 83% has heard of the name Pininfarina at the very least.

Pininfarina my friends, is the the company responsible for designing some of the coolest Ferraris on the face of this planet.

Pininfarina (short for Carozzeria Pininfarina) is an Italian design firm and coachbuilder in Turin, Italy, founded in 1930 by automobile designer and builder Battista "Pinin" Farina (Following the company, his surname became Pininfarina in 1961, as a result of combining his nickname and surname).

Over the years the company has been employed by many automobile manufacturers, notably Ferrari, Maserati, Cadillac, Nash, Peugeot, Jaguar, Volvo, Alfa Romeo and Lancia. Since the 1980's Pininfarina has also provided industrial design and interior design consultation to selected corporate clients. Today Pininfarina is run by Battista's grandson Andrea Pininfarina. The Pininfarina Group currently employs over 3,000 people in subsidiary company offices throughout Europe, as well as in Morocco and China. From the top of my head they design the Ferrari 275, Daytona, 365 GT4 BB, Testarossa, F40, Mythos, 550 Barchetta, 575M Maranello, Enzo Ferrari and in 2006 obviously the  Ferrari P4/5.

And guess what? They designed a chassis for Spire called the mid-sized casing Pininfarina SP-ATX-PALU/U.

So once a case is designed by Pininfarina, can it really go wrong ? Let's find out and give this chassis a good test-drive.
