Italy, Second World War. Explore the Allied invasion plans and discover the covert operations behind Sniper Elite 4's campaign. Featuring concept art and new in-game factions and environments. "Italy 1943" is the first in a series of scene-setting story trailers for Sniper Elite 4. Sniper Elite 4 is an upcoming third-person tactical shooter stealth video game developed by Rebellion Developments. Rebellion has just announced that the PC version of Sniper Elite 4 will support Microsoft’s latest API, DirectX 12. Do note that Sniper Elite 4 will not be exclusive to DX12. The game will support both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12, so those that do not own a DX12 GPU will be able to enjoy it too. Rebellion did not reveal the differences between DX12 and DX11 though. ASYNC compute is actively embedded  which should help the PCs with lower specced processors.

"We've worked really hard to make Sniper Elite 4 our biggest and best game ever. And now the power of DirectX 12 on PC, means we can take things even further for our fans who want the best sniper experience in the world. We're turning everthing upto 12!" - Chris Kingsley, Rebellion CTO and Co-founder.

New features are:

  • Enhanced frame rate
  • Increased draw distances
  • Increased geometry level of detail
  • Improved lighting and shadows fidelity
  • Increased image quality of reflections
  • Faster loading times

For our reference baseline results we test with our image quality settings maxed out (Ultra) aside from what we'll mention, overall a nice quality setting for PC gamers alright but visually more of the same from Sniper Elite 3, just with a different scenery. The game allows you to tweak several graphics settings, but has your typical settings ranging from the lowest to the best image quality settings.
