Silverstone GD06A couple of months ago at Computex 2011 Silverstone announced a new series of cases and other enclosures. Silverstone is known by hardware enthusiasts for its innovative and rather creatively designed products.

In the line-up are Grandia chassis, which were specially designed to be used for HTPC systems, as explained.

Amongst them Silverstone offers the GD06 which look remarkably similar to it's bigger brothers yet based off the GF04 and GD05, which it will succeed with hot swappable drive bays and USB 3.0 support.

The chassis measures 440 (W) x 150 (H) x 340 (D) mm and that automatically implies that it must house a micro ATX, mini-DTX or mini-ITX motherboards. There's plenty of them available, in fact most A75 motherboards are exactly that micro ATX format. We'll actually use one today from MSI.

The chassis is built out of 0.8 SECC aluminum with a metal base chassis; along with all gadgets is still weighs a total of 5.6 kg. Included are three 120mm fans that can rotate at 1,200 RPM (rotations per minute). Two are located on the right side panel, while the third is on the left side, we'll show you that in the photo shoot of course.
The mATX chassis comes with enough room for either four 3.5-inch and one 2.5-inch storage units, or two 2.5-inch drives and three 3.5-inch ones.

What you'll notice is the rather l33t front side, which is pretty much a door, pop it open and a a front-placed I/O panel has audio ports and two USB 3.0 connectors, while a 5.35-inch exposed bay makes sure a DVD or Blu-ray unit can be added. Interesting are the drive bay, it comes with swappable HDD functionality, again something we'll show you in the photo-shoot.

SilverStone's GD06 is coated black and can fit video cards of up to 11 inches in length inside of it. The price at the moment of writing is roughly 100 Euro.
