Final Words & Conclusion

Final Words & Conclusion

The market for power supplies is tremendously saturated, for every 10 USD/EURO increasement you will find a PSU that meets your requirements. So that makes it difficult to sell you products in a saturated market. Things a manufacturer needs to do is be diverse and get your hardware right. Season ticks the boxes, a white PSU, that is totally silent, offers roughly 1050 Watt, it is fully modular so you will not have a wire spaghetti in your system and next to that the cabling is done tastefully as well. So why would you want to go with a KW PSU ? Well, tThese PSU's are designed for the true afficionado's that overclock to the extreme or the onces that build PCs with say two or three GPUs. Realistically that is a limited market. That said however, it does not disqualify how good this power supply really is. The SnowSilent 1050W obviously had no issues whatsoever with what we threw at it, in real-world testing with actual computer hardware we reached just over 700 Watt (Wall socket side measurement) which is not even considered a full stress level for this PSU.

Equilibrium

However, any PSU at half the maximum load is where it'll be the most efficient and in this case at 230V that is 92%. As such the 500 Watt range is actually a sweet-spot. While passing 700 Watt load we do can confirm that the power efficiency remains excellent as it performed smack down where it needs to be with other Platinum tested models. At a price of 249 USD / 235 EUR the product is not cheap though. Well, compared to the competition it is affordable, but for any PSU that is a lot of money to spend. You do get what you pay for, high efficiency levels, great looks, great connectivity and of 7 years warranty as well. That shows how much trust Seasonic hasin this product.

Stability

Stability wise we have very little to complain at half load say 500 watts voltages remained drop dead synchronized. But we'll trust that some other reviews will show some ripple tests yet have no doubt the product will come out totally clean. Impressive is obviously the massive single +12V rail, it has just so much power to handle multiple heavy duty graphics cards. I mean 87 AMPs. Considering that one graphics card uses 15A on average these days you do the math. Being so efficient also translates in drop-dead stable voltage levels, obviously.

Aesthetics

The Seasonic SnowSilent picks up on a trend, we see more and more white PCB PC components like white motherboards, white graphics cards and predominantly white chassis. That's where Season is aiming at. Also a dark colored PC with some white touches would work out really well with a nice white PSU. The one thing that people might nag about is the black colored wiring and connectors. I assume that several of you also would have liked to see white connectors and cables. other than that is is a good  design. A word of advice however has to be the concern of length, this puppy is 19 CM deep, so make sure you have the right PC case for that. Modular designs are the way to go. You use what you need in terms of wiring, keeping the innards clean and tidy, plain and simple. And overall the SnowSilent 1050W is a great looking PSU, slightly longer than your typical ATX sized PSU.

Final words

Having all the hip features on-board, being totally silent and copmbined with a fully modular design in white makes this Platinum certified PSU top notch. The Seasonic SnowSilent 1050W certainly is a winner. Next to the efficiency it  has good looks, is modular, is horrendously stable, comes with dark cabling and then we have to acknowledge it's drop dead silent as well.  Our tests show that the PSU positions itself where it needs to be. I favor modular cables on power supplies as you get to use the cables that you need. So there's no spaghetti swarm of cabling inside the PSU killing the cool looks. Connectors wise there's plenty available all of them quite lengthy as well. But yeah eight 6/8 pin PCIE connectors says it all I guess. For the enthusiast motherboards that have it, you may also connect two ATX12V connectors which will help you out with some more extreme overclocking. Seasonic offers a seven year warranty on the product, really it's hard to go wrong with this product. With that 80+ Platinum certification, its features and then a price tag of 235 EUR we feel that Seasonic has an excellent PSU in their hands.

Wrapping up - though aimed at an extremely small crowd, this is a job well done from Seasonic, the PSU is most definitely Guru3D approved, a very impressive product.
