The packaging of the Extreme 500 is dressed on dark with red, the Sandisk signature. The product is priced at give or take ~90 EUR for a 240 GB model. Have a peek at some product shoot photo's.

Here we go, the USB 3.0 unit, we received the 240 GB model. The internal SSD that Sandisk uses is sharing a lot of the Extreme II series SSDs.  It's average power usage is roughly 2 Watt that we could measure hence it will not need an external power source. The device will power and feed itself completely from the USB connector. 

The storage device is rated at a nice 415MB/sec for reads and 340 MB/s writes (sustained/linear) over USB 3.0 (Windows 8.1 or 10 needed for the fastest transfer numbers), and that is comparable with modern age SSD and NAND Flash storage, for our purposes it'll do just fine alright ! Included are a small manual and USB 3.0 cable. It's all you need really.

The design of unit is slim -- 10.7 mm thickness my man, that isn't a lot for a portable SSD storage unit, you can slip it into your jacket easily as it's dimensions are just 2.98 x 2.98 x 0.42 in. (75.69mm x 75.69 mm x 10.67 mm). The Extreme 500 is designed to last, a nice hard outer plastic shell combined with a rubber strip on the edges. If it falls from a skyscraper downwards, I think it would still be functional as it is a very sturdy design.

The unit has a weight of only 79 grams. And in relation to my previous sky-scraper remark - it is is shock resistant up to 800G/0.5ms. You can use the unit seamless on any PC & Mac computers — no driver is needed with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Mac OS 10.4+

The unit is easy to set up and can be protected with AES 128 through included SanDisk SecureAccess software, it offers a 128-bit encryption. We do feel that is a bit on the shy side, it would be nice to see SanDisk moce to a 256-bit encryption. Hey if you offer this as a feature in 2016, do it right as the world is changing.  You receive a comfortable three year carry-in warranty with the Extreme 500 series SSDs.
