Age/Occupation/Location?

15 years/ dont have a real job but I do yard work and friends and families houses/ I live in Lynnwood Washington about 20 miles from Seattle

How long have you been a member of Guru3D forums?

About a year. I came across the site one day when looking for advice about how much RAM was needed for the latest games.

What did you first come here for?

I first came here regarding how much RAM I should get and should I replace my one 512 stick of pc-2700 with two 512 sticks pc-3200. The answer was obviously switch it out and get PC-3200

What do you mainly use the system for?

I mainly use my system for gaming whenever possible. Another task I use my rig for is school work which really sucks.

How much did you spend on the rig?

I spent about 1200 dollars on my rig. I had to buy it in increments because of the fact that I only do yard work for money, and my parents dont believe in allowance so I was out of luck there.

How often do you update/buy a new rig?

I probably update every other month depending on what I have in cash leftover. I build a completely new rig about every 5 years or so.

What components are used?

Mobo: Shuttle AN35N-Ultra
CPU: AMD ATHLON 2700+ overclocked to 2.28 GHZ @ 11*207
RAM: A pair of Kingmax PC-3200 Value Ram And a stick of 512 generic
GPU: PNY 6600GT with a Zalman VF700-CU Overclocked to 570 core and 1115 memory
Sound Card: Sound Blaster LIVE! 24-bit edition
Hard Drive(s): One Maxtor 80 gig ATA 133 and one 80 gig Seagate ATA 133

Why ATI or NVIDIA, why Intel/AMD?

I chose NVIDIA because the 6600 GT was one of the best buys for the price and I was on a very tight budget and needed something that could perform nicely but was cheap. I chose AMD because the Intel chips were too much money and AMDs performance was much better than that of Intel's.

Does the system work as expected?

Yeah works great for what I play and do. Games like battlefield 2 and Medal of Honour Pacific Assault play like a dream on this system.

What's the best part of your rig?

The best part of my rig is probably my graphics card because without I wouldnt be able to play games on such a high resolution or with all the other effects on.

What sucks and should not have been bought?

Well I originally bought one 512 stick of pc-2700 and wasnt successful in overclocking my system so I had to go and get some better RAM. Also the case I've got isn't the best looking. I looked at and first thought it looked cool but now I dont like the look of it.

Modified cases/video cards/other? Did you do it yourself? Walk us through it.

Well the first modification I did was to get some black light and some UV reactive sleeves for my wires. Then I cut out the back fan holes to increase airflow and decrease noise. Then I recently got a zalman VF700-cu cooler for my graphics card that dropped my temp from a sizzling 85 degrees Celsius load to a nice and cool 48 degrees Celsius load.

3DMark scores?

3dmark03 score is 8712
3dmark05 score is 3870
Aquamark score is 52,300

Future upgrades?

Maybe a better graphics card if they still sell AGP cards when I go and upgrade.
