5760x1080 Multi-Monitor gaming (1)

Gaming on three monitors at 5760x1080

With so much horsepower under the hood and with all the graphics memory available on graphics cards like these it would be a shame not to test multi-monitor performance.

Hence we setup three Dell LCD screens and combined three 1920x1080 monitors towards a resolution of 5760x1080. These days all modern game titles can handle gaming on three monitors, whether or not it is your thing in terms of rendering power needed and stuff like bezels in-between the screens, I'll leave up to you to form an opinion about.

With three monitors we pass 6 MPixels that need to be rendered which is a huge task for any graphics card. At this point if at all you are using AA, your graphics card will need to have 2 GB of graphics memory at minimum. Well with Radeon HD 7990  you get 3GB per active GPU, so I woudn't worry about that though.

For the multi-monitor mode at a monitor resolution of 5760x1080 we take six games from our benchmark suite and fire off the following cards and combinations:

  • GeForce GTX 680
  • GeForce GTX 690
  • Radeon HD 7970 GHz
  • GeForce GTX Titan
  • Radeon HD 7990

Far Cry 3

  • Very High-quality DX11 mode
  • 2x MSAA (Anti-aliasing)
  • 16x AF (Anisotropic Filtering).
Far Cry 3 - As you can see 7990 confiuration lead the pack here. This was impressive to observe, especially considering that in the past we have seen multi-monitor vs Multi-GPU issues with AMD products. But gaming in this resolution with that framerate... yummie!

Medal of Honor Warfighter

Medal of Honor Warfighter - Ultra Quality mode and 4xMSAA with DX11 is activated. Again we see the R7990 take a nice lead.

Realistically if you do not like multi-GPU complication the one single GPU card left that can manage it all as well is the GeForce GTX Titan, but at 63 FPS in this resolution you should be a happy man considering we apply 4xMSAA at monitor resolution of 5760x1080.

Hitman Absolution

  • DirectX 11
  • High Quality settings
  • 2x MSAA
  • 16x AF
  • Internal benchmark used

Hitman Absolution was my favorite game in December alongside MOH Warfighter. Unfortunately we have hit a that CPU bottleneck, still reaching 50+ FPS, that is cool stuff.
