The Verdict
As you can see this particular card from Prolink clearly performed a little worse then the Galaxy product we reviewed last week. That makes sense as the Galaxy product had 256 MB memory and faster core and a faster memory frequency, but it is also more expensive. But once again I have to state, this is a true overclockers product and when we compare the two brands then Prolink simply wins, how about that? A 600 Mhz memory frequency long with a 550 MHz core clock, yes 550 MHz! That's a 250 MHz increase, that's just insane! So grab Coolbits or Rivatuner and get started.

But let's set aside the overclock as well, that's just for the freaks like yours truly. The GeForce 6600 simply offers real good value for your money. Do you want to know what this product will cost you? Well, only 135 - 145 USD which actually is a manufacturer suggested retail price. Now for that kind of money you'll be able to play all modern games at very acceptable framerates. If we look at the somewhat older games then this card just chews them up. I mean at 1024x768 you'll be able to play Doom 3 at high quality at an average of 50 Frames per second. Halo at that same resolution manages to squeeze out 44 FPS. Even Far Cry at the highest possible Image Quality setting did 41 FPS. That's just great for the money isn't it? The thing is, that with titles like these you will have to forfeit on Antialiasing. Sure, you can use it with the older games, but the newer titles can not be played well with such extreme settings as shaders demand a hefty toll on the graphics core. But hey, you can't have it all and most definitely not for this kind of money.

Great product which is very affordable. Only one question remains for Prolink though. What did you do to the PDF cooling? Sufficient as the current solution might be, that's what made your products so very special. I hope we'll see it back in the future.

The software bundle has been ripped out of this product to be able to offer it to you at the best possible price, the 6600 is a very cost effective product. If your budget isn't sky-high... well put this product on your wish list as you'll definitely enjoy it and is simply worth every penny.
