7 - Three amBX Videos

Videos

Now, I have recorded a threefold selection of videos for you guys. Before we begin, using a camera in a dark situation is a pretty crappy experience. Then when YouTube starts recompressing the videos... a lot of detail is gone. But to be able to show off the cool lighting effects of amBX we need a dark room. So please take the video quality with a grain of salt. The videos below are intended solely to get an idea of the kit.

Brothers In Arms - Hell's Highway -- Introduction scene

Since Ubisoft was kind enough to provide us with Brothers in Arms - Hell's Highway for this amBX review, I wanted to stick to this title. Above, some cut-scenes from the moment you start up the game and dive into the introduction scene. Try not to focus on the screenplay, yet on the ambient lights changing with the primary tones of the actual screen. Mind you the video only shows lighting, yet for example at the introduction logo the rumble pad starts vibrating the table, and both fans blow a decent amount of fresh air in your face. Didn't see that one coming the first time I started the game, definitely an experience by itself.

Brothers In Arms - Hell's Highway -- 1st level gameplay

Alright - this is the video you guys will like the most. It's a recording of actual gameplay, this is the experience we are talking about. In this second video we take the character for a spin in the first level, which has a great atmosphere with lots of different colors.

What the video can't show you is that if you run or walk fast, you'll have air blown in your face. If you strafe to the right, you'll have air blown in your face blown from the right. Very subtle nuances. Again try to focus on the ambient lighting, it colors along with the color tone of the screen, expanding your overall gaming experience. Also, when you die everything goes red, including the amBX lights, and to top it off... you go cold as the fans will blow cold air in your face. And yes, it's actually a little disturbing.

amBX - Music and configuration

In this last video an advanced warning, it is horrible quality for seeing what actually happens on the monitor. But try and get a grasp of the music playback and configurable Media Player where you can select different color modes such as rock, disco, classic and so on. Later on in the video I go to the amBX control panel, when you hear a loud noise... that's either the fans spinning, or the rumble bar rattling on the table.

If interested, you can download these videos at a slightly higher 1 MBit/sec quality, click here to download a Zip (67mb) archive containing the three video's.
