Before we start off with our benchmarks:

We are showing you the results today in threefold.

  • Performance at default 667 MHz 4-4-4-12 1T
  • Performance with a 800 MHz memory bus 4-5-5-12 1T
  • Performance once overclocked (907 MHz), FSB is raised thus CPU is overclocked also (4-5-5-12 2T).

What you need to understand is that the first two performance measurements (667/800) did not have the CPU overclocked. Yet still there is a massive performance difference as we where able to uphold a T1 command rate at 800 MHz !, really lovely.

Obviously when we overclock the system, the CPU will have a huge effect on the overall performance as well.

For the gaming benchmarks we'll be using the more memory and CPU bound titles to show the performance differential a tad better.

SiSoft Sandra

SiSoftware Sandra (the System ANalyser, Diagnostic and Reporting Assistant) is an information & diagnostic utility. It should provide most of the information (including undocumented) you need to know about your hardware, software and other devices whether hardware or software. Sandra provides similar level of information to Norton SI, Quarterdeck WinProbe/Manifest, etc. The Win32 version is 32-bit and comes in both ANSI (legacy for Windows 98/Me systems) and native Unicode (Windows NT4/200X/.Net) formats. The Win64 version is 64-bit and comes in native Unicode format.

Do note that all the SANDRA benchmarks are synthetic and thus may not tally with real-life performance. The latter stands for whatever your environment is, i.e. which applications you run with what amount of data and so on. It is up to you to decide whether what Sandra measures is what you want to measure.

Here you can find the scores of Sandra.

You can see all he way on top the FX-62 processor at the FoxConn NF590 SLI mainboard in overclocked status. Now look all the way top your right ... and compare that performance with an Athlon XP 3000+ Amazing where we are now huh ? Let's have a look at memory performance, which should be awesome with the new updated memory controller inside the processor in combo with this mainboard.

Amazing stuff .. this Patriot memory allows us to push over 10k MB/sec once overclocked.

Everest

EVEREST Home Edition is a freeware hardware diagnostics and memory benchmarking solution for home PC users.

It offers accurate hardware information and diagnostics capabilities, including online features, memory benchmarks, hardware monitoring, and low-level hardware information. EVEREST Home Edition is optimized for Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 operating systems, and it fully supports the XP look & feel.

Synthetic numbers are simply the best way to show you the exact difference between timings and frequencies. Something that is very hard to show with games. Above three separate CPU tests with (as comparison) in tha latter results obviously we see the most performance as that's where the CPU is overclocked also. Once we overclock and thus rise that FSB we see memory performance go up fast.

Everest's memory tests also back up the perormance. We can see read/write/copy performance rise closer towards 10.000 MB/sec.
