OCZ ZS series 650W

There is one top fan; a quiet 13cm sized fan. It comes with RPM control and thus guarantees cool performance and silent operation, yYet throttles up when needed. There's a pretty nice and optimal airflow throughout the PSU. The PSU has an ATX design yet is slightly more lengthy, it'll fit in any chassis though, its dimensions are: 150 x 160 x 86mm (W x L x H).

When it comes to wiring we feel that there's enough connectors for a 650W model, have a look at the supplied connectors, all with decent length by the way.

The ATX motherboard connector as well reached to 50CM, the Molex and SATA power cables seem a little short though at 60 to70 CM, 90 CM would have been preferred here. Below an overview of connector for the three available models.

550W Connectors

  • 1 x 20+4-pin ATX
  • 1 x 4+4-pin 12V ESP/CPU
  • 1 x 6-pin, 1 x 6+2-pin PCIe
  • 3 x 4-pin peripheral
  • 8 x 5-pin SATA

650W Connectors

  • 1 x 20+4-pin ATX
  • 1 x 4+4-pin ESP/12V CPU
  • 1 x 6-pin PCI-E
  • 1 x 6+2-pin PCI-E
  • 4 x 4-pin Peripheral
  • 8 x 5-pin SATA

750W Connectors

  • 1 x 20+4-pin ATX
  • 1 x 4+4-pin ESP/12V CPU
  • 2 x 6-pin PCI-E
  • 2 x 6+2-pin PCI-E
  • 4 x 4-pin Peripheral
  • 8 x 5-pin SATA

Graphics card wise with our tested 650W model you get to play with one 6+2 Pin PCie connector and then an additional 6-pin connector. We'd have preferred two 8+6-pin combo PCIe PEG connectors as it should be able to power a GeForce GTX 590 card just fine, and that card has two 8-pin headers.

We see sleeved cabling with dark colored connectors. That's a good design. The cables have a proper nice length, though I would like to see the cables sleeved in black and the connectors colored black as well. But that is purely for aesthetic reasons of course.

Last photo, here we can observe power distribution as labeled on the PSU. The +12V rails certainly seems decent me. You'll get one massive rail of them rated at 46 Amps. 46Ax12V=552 Watt.
