MSI GeForce GTX 680 TwinFrozr III OC - Introduction

The GeForce GTX 680 was recently released by NVIDIA. Meanwhile we have shown you the reference review, 2-way, heck even 3-way SLI articles and an overclocking tweaking guide just on this one product.

It's now April and NVIDIA's partners have had some time to pimp them Kepler based graphics cards, that's right customize them. Today that honor goes to MSI.

Kepler my friends is the codename for the architecture behind the GeForce series 600 graphics cards.  The GeForce GTX 680 2 GB is a fact and selling in the stores as we speak. The all new product has some interesting new features which we'll happily discuss with you -- obviously the GeForce GTX 680 is positioned against AMD's Radeon HD 7970.

MSI released their MSI GeForce GTX 680 TwinFrozr III OC. First impressions, the PCB seems to be 100% reference. The card is equipped with 2 GB of graphics memory. They popped a TwinFrozr III cooler on there with five thick 8mm heatpipes which should give some good cooling performance.

Clocks wise the reference products have a 1004 Mhz clock frequency whereas the MSI GeForce GTX 680 TwinFrozr III OC receives a mild faster clock frequency that clocks in at 1058 MHz. The memory is clocked at 6008 MHz (effective datarate). The card comes with a HDMI, DP and two Dual-link DVI connectors.

Have a peek at the card and then let's head onwards into the deep review.

The product is customized with a new PCB, cooling and a few tweaks, it has 2GB of memory with both that memory and the core base-clock slightly overclocked. Overall an interesting product at an interesting price in the lower segment of the mainstream market.
