HDD SSD performance on SATA - SATA6G and USB 3.0

HDD SSD performance on SATA - SATA6G and USB 3.0

With the new SATA3 6G controller and USB 3.0 controllers we started adding SSD performance numbers measured on such interfaces (when applicable). Putting these in nicely styled charts would be better, but with technology so new we just do not have anything out there yet to compare to, so here are some RAW numbers:

We use the A-DATA N002 Solid State Drive which has both a both SATA2 and USB 3.0 port.

USB 3.0 performance 1024 KB Read MB/sec Write MB/secMSI 890GX | X4 965 132 108GA-890G | X6 1090T 173 144ASUS Maximus II Ex | 870 178 134ASUS C4F 890FX | X6 1095T 181 156890FXA-GD70 | X6 1090T 174 146ASUS 890GX |X4 965 195 175ASUS R III Ex | 980X 200 155

Above, you can see a N002 series A-DATA Solid State Drive running over its USB 3.0 add-on controller. As you can see, the implementation works well, we see a little bit of a slowdown, but nothing major.

Last but not least some numbers based on regular SATA2 over the SATA3 controller of this motherboard, there surely is nothing to be ashamed about that performance and it shows the best small file-size performance.
