Rig of the Month February 2011

Starting July 2012 the winner of the months Rig of the Month will receive an OCZ Technology Vertex 4 128GB SSD delivered for free at it's doorsteps as a nice incentive. Combining high-speed data transfer rates with record-breaking access times, OCZ Vertex 4 SSDs are designed to provide a superior user experience and improved application performance. Octane leverages the cutting-edge Indilinx Everest platform and is optimized for the complete spectrum of file types and sizes, with proprietary page mapping algorithms mirroring real world conditions across a wide range of applications. If you like performance, how does Max Reads up to 550MB/s sound ?

Each month here at Guru3D.com we feature one of you guys, your PC, your DIY project. It is quite honestly amazing how much detail and dedication you put into an PC, and every now and then it really shows. The Rig of the Month June 2012 is unique ...

This months build comes from a guy with the nickname MybadOmen. To proof that PC enthusiasts can be found worldwide in all categories and ages we can proudly say that David Lane is a 40 year old guy. David has build an exemplary nice PC loaded with little things that trick the mind. Very little is not modified to be honest. The NZXT Switch 810 chassis for example has been totally toned down and Modded everywhere to allow tubing to run through the roof of the build. Also all the drive bays had to be Modified for the tubing and pumps to be mounted in the drive bay area. Also the top of the Case had to be Modded to fit the EK XTC 420 Rad with 6 140 mm fans. The whole motherboard tray he actually made from scratch. And there is much more going on, blood sweat and perhaps a tear went into this build. Without further ado, have a peek.

Would you like to have your PC published? Check out the lower half of this landing page and read what is required.

1. What is your name / nickname /age / occupation?

Hiya guys, My name is David Lane or better known online as MybadOmen. I just hit the big 40 and trust me i don't feel it .For an Occupation I started at a young age working on Cars and Opened my own shop called Auto-Tek at 17 years old. I ran that full station shop for roughly 9 years before getting into Computers. I then went to work in the Semiconductor Field for 6 years until I had a son that was born with some handicaps that slowly forced me to leave my job totally to help care for him (He is 8 now and doing very well ).

2. What did you first come here for?

Its hard to tell the First time I came to Guru3d because I have been coming here for years. The reason I started Posting build Logs here is because my Friends are all here and its a great Site.

3. What do you mainly use the system for?

This build was built mainly for show and to play Mass Effect 3. But dont get me wrong i have had this build benching at 5.3GHz and broke 10 in Cinebench and that's with the Ram at 2136mhz.

This months build comes from a Mikkel Olsen. At 27 years of age Mikkel probably did not build the most beautiful game PC we have had submitted, but his room nearly is one huge PC, a freakish gaming please heaven for many of you. The guy has a lot going on in there as you are about to find out. Come to think of it, the guy should put up some Miami Vice signs in there to get that good old 80'ies feel to it :)

One person we have been following closely on his build-log is Eric Soeters from the Netherlands, and although his build still is not 100% finished, it's nearly there and just amazing. He has built the chassis from ground up including some very hard work. The end result is his new PC called the "Exo-S", we'll just leave the explanation and working to the man himself as the only thing that is left after you have seen this build is to clap your hands and yell bravo ...
