9. What's the best part of your rig?

Best part of the Exo-S are a few. I think we were able to do things with this mod, which I (!!) never have seen before:

  • open mobo plate frame
  • shielded psu cover
  • -No symmetric in the case.
  • 2.4mm CCFL's used in the case
  • Sleeved tie-wraps for cable management
  • Minimal amount of cable can be seen (keeping in mind that this is a 100% open case.

Most important thing about this mod and what we want to tell the others. It is not about the hardware, it's about the creativity. We proofed that you can build something unique without professional tools, without making to much costs.
We started off with an old rusty iron plate and some old bars from an IKEA cupboard. Nothing more, nothing less. Everything you see was created with those 2 items. The pictures speak for itself from the first sketch, which we altered numerous times along the course. We started with the ABS audiocase. It must fit within this case. From that point forward we started thinking and designing. For the lines on the PSU-cover it took us more 4 hours to only get the lines in the way we wanted. That was very tough to get it as it is. Those lines were not randomly drawn, we keep on changing them during the night and at the end we were satisfied with the result.

10. Any dislikes, things you should not have bought?

Dislikes I really don't have. I never regret things I have done, I only regret things which I have not done! We did had a few sad-backs. One was the moment that the Exo-S was powdercoated and ready and we found out that the mobo IO bracket did not fit We cut the Exo-S in half and extended the Exo-S. All kudos to my buddy SqUed, who is a real magician with regards to constructing something from iron with his bare hands. At the end we did not powder coated it ourselves, but decided to spray paint it. Result was better than what with the powder coating.
