Guru3D Rig of the Month 2010 competition series

Each month here at Guru3D.com we feature one of you guys, your PC, your DIY project. It is quite honestly amazing how much detail and dedication you put into an PC, and every now and then it really shows. We again had a LOT of entries coming in in the past five weeks, thank you very much for that. Out of the fifteen most original we in the end randomly picked one.

This rig of the month totally speaks for itself, an outstanding PC build, sheer beauty and then an excellent photo-shoot highlighting the craftsmanship you are about to see with his own custom build.

This months winner's RIG speaks all for itself. He made his PC his own battleship, in fact his theme for this build was Battlestar Galactica. We had several really good entries this month alright, but this build is just magnificent and a very worthy winner which I think you all can agree on.

Lukasz aka luke997 is the winner of Rig of The Month June 2010. Meet this software engineer at the age of 30, he has been a Guru3D aficionado for a year or three and the surely likes to build kick'ass PCs.

His PC will be the Rig of the Month and he has built his PC with some interesting components. He certainly has spend a lot of time and effort on his rig, making not only beautiful looking, but an ubercool and high performance one as well.

The winner of the months Rig of the Month will receive an OCZ Technology Z Series 850W Modular PSU (80plus Gold Certified) delivered for free at it's doorsteps as a nice incentive. These PSUs feature ultra-high efficiency of 90% and have achieved the 80+ Gold Certification. OCZ strived to make the Gold Z Series a true “best-in-class” power supply, including a powerful single +12-volt rail design and an industrial-grade core engineered for maximum stability and reliability. Built for excellence.

Entry for Guru3D rig of the month

1. What is your name / nickname /age / occupation?

I'm Lukasz aka luke997, just turned 30 couple days ago and I'm software test tool engineer - basically I develop tools used in software testing. If I were to answer shortly why I think my rig is special, I would say it's because it accomplishes several goals which are very rarely seen together:

  • great looks with attention to every single screw and cable in it (long live Battlestar Galactica
  • extremely powerful - 3x GTX 480 + i7 980X - monster in a case not bench
  • custom fully watercooled
  • near silent with great temps under heavy OC
  • 3D Vision Surround ready
  • very proudly from the ground (plan) up (build) done by myself

2. What did you first come here for?

I visit guru3d fairly regularly for about 3 years, mostly for excellent hardware reviews - GPU's and PSUs.
I never registered on the forum though until now, encouraged by Pascal who is a great guy and has a brilliant rig.

3. What do you mainly use the system for?

I use my system mainly for gaming - I'm a big fan of 3D gaming and since I've started using NVIDIA's S3D I've never played anymore in 2D.
Right now I can't wait for 3D Vision Surround drivers - my other 2 monitors scream to be used in games. Next would be benching - after all having all those gear water-cooled it would be crime not to show what it can do.

I also do a little bit of video editing of my holidays footage - though I have to agree with my wife - seems I can never find time to do it !

This months build comes from a Mikkel Olsen. At 27 years of age Mikkel probably did not build the most beautiful game PC we have had submitted, but his room nearly is one huge PC, a freakish gaming please heaven for many of you. The guy has a lot going on in there as you are about to find out. Come to think of it, the guy should put up some Miami Vice signs in there to get that good old 80'ies feel to it :)

Guru3D Rig of the Month - July 2012
This months build comes from a guy with the nickname MybadOmen. To proof that PC enthusiasts can be found worldwide in all categories and ages we can proudly say that David Lane is a 40 year old guy. One person we have been following closely on his build-log is Eric Soeters from the Netherlands, and although his build still is not 100% finished, it's nearly there and just amazing. He has built the chassis from ground up including some very hard work. The end result is his new PC called the "Exo-S", we'll just leave the explanation and working to the man himself as the only thing that is left after you have seen this build is to clap your hands and yell bravo ...
