The Gigabyte Aorus Z370 Ultra Gaming motherboard is a more mainstream solution in that Z370 series motherboard range. However, Gigabyte still packs it with features like proper DDR4 XMP support Up to 4133MHz, Dual PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2, Intel Gbe LAN and well, everything you can expect from a performance motherboard really.

The motherboard includes all of the standardized Z370 enhancements like the ability for two full x4 PCIe Gen 3 M2 SSD slots (RAID compatible) and will support SLI and Crossfire. You'll also spot a variety of USB3.1 Type-A & Type-C Gen2 ports.  Quick side note, the four red blocks behind the audio capacitors to get a different color are actually WIMA film capacitors, these are high-end grade Polypropylene Capacitors. The board comes with three x16 slots, however that is one full x16 slot with one graphics occupied. With two cards the second slot links into slot one and the lanes (Gen3) are divided in a x8:x8 fashion. The third slot to the right might physically look like a x16 slot, it in fact is offering only x4 lanes which are shared with one M2 slot as well. So that PCIe lane configuration is a a bit tricky.

The I/O panel of the Ultra Gaming shows eight 3.1 ports with one type-c connector. Intel does not have native USB 3.1 Gen 2 support from the processor hence Gigabyte makes use of external 3rd party controllers like ASMedia 3142. A Realtek ALC1220 audio codec is the source for audio which will be enhanced quality capacitors following the AMP-Up logic that gigabyte offers on most motherboards these days. The board reveals one  10/100/1000 Ethernet jack, an Intel one. There is no WIFI and/or 5/10 GBit/s Ethernet implemented. There is a single PS/2 combo port that can be used for either a keyboard or mouse. Coffee lake has an integrated IGP, ergo the display connectors are HDMI and DVI. Being a value board, a DisplayPort was not integrated.

The board is powered by one 8-pin ATX power header to the processor. See the two metal protected PCI-Express x16 slots ? These actually have LED strips along side of them and this light up, let me show you that:

You will hopefully agree with me that once powered up the aesthetics change quite a bit. The board has four DIMM slots. Coffee lake is limited towards dual-channel. This board supports up-to DDR4 4133 MHz memory (overclocked), you may install up-to 64 GB of it.

So the AORUS Z370 motherboards feature the Gigabyte RGB Fusion LED systems. You can customize anything in any color and animation, use a static color and simply turn it all off if you dislike it, with the RGB Fusion App including customizable multiple zones.
