DX11: Sleeping Dogs

DX11: Sleeping Dogs

Based in Hong Kong, Sleeping Dogs takes gamers through diverse neighborhoods, ranging from the high class Central HK to the bustling fish markets of Aberdeen and beyond in a wide variety of story missions and sandbox activities. The game also introduces handfuls of intriguing characters for gamers to interact with as they navigate through a truly unique and dangerous city.

The game is great to benchmark with as it comes with DirectX11 Specific Features like contact hardening shadows, HD-AO and Use of Direct Compute. This particular test has the following image quality settings enabled:

  • DX11
  • High Quality mode
  • in-game AA enabled
  • in-game AF enabled

Our scores are average framerates so you need to take a margin in mind for lower FPS at all times. As such we say 40 FPS for this game should be your minimum, while 60 FPS (frames per second) can be considered optimal.

Above an overview at HIGH quality settings showing framerates average out with a handful of cards (we only recently added this title as benchmark).

And above the differences measures inbetween the four cores Core i7 965X @ 3.8 GHz and six cores Core i7 3960X @ 4.6 GHz. Same card, same driver, same OS cloned image, just a different platform. You can see once you get towards low resolutions that's where the CPU limitation shows a little. After 1920x1200 that difference nearly vanishes into thin binary air.
