DX11: Anno 2070

DX11: Anno 2070

It's 2070 and the world has changed. The sea's rising level has harmed the coastal cities and climate change has made large stretches of land inhospitable. In Anno 2070 the game offers a new world full of challenges, where you will need to master resources, diplomacy and trade in the most comprehensive economic management system seen yet in the Anno series.

An example of what level and city complexity we test in, this level is used to measure performance.

This particular test has the following enabled:

  • DX11
  • Very high Quality mode
  • in-game AA enabled
  • in-game AF enabled

As you can see the cards are all running into a bucketload of CPU limitation, apparently even my sexy Core i7 3960X at 4600 MHz doesn't seem to be enough. Realistically though, two way SLI works well starting at 2560x1600.

But yes there is just so much CPU limitation up-to 1920x1200. At 2560x1600 we do see an improvement with 2-way SLI.

Again: what what we'll also do is to take one GeForce GTX Titan, and then compare it to R7970 GHz edition in 2-way Crossfire, the GeForce GTX 680 in 2-way SLI and added to that the Titan on 2-way SLI. Try to focus on 2560x1600 and see how well 1 Titan GPU is holding up opposed towards 2 GPU configurations. Up-to 1920x1200 that's all kinds of weird CPU behaviour though.
