DX11: Tomb Raider

DX11: Tomb Raider

Lara Croft is back and has the distinction of being one of the true breakout stars of gaming, an icon every bit as important as Mario or Sonic. But in many ways she has always taken second place to the titular Tombs of the games she inhabits, with attempts to flesh out her character some of the weakest moments in a venerable series of games.

This particular test has the following enabled:

  • DX11
  • Ultra Quality mode
  • FX AA enabled
  • 16x AF enabled
  • Hair Quality Normal (TressFX disabled)
  • Tessellation On
  • SSAO Ultra

Our scores are average frame rates so you need to take a margin in mind for lower FPS at all times. As such we say 40 FPS in your preferred monitor resolution for this game should be your minimum, while 60 FPS (frames per second) can be considered optimal. Mind you that we started including 4K Ultra High Definition (3840x2160) as standard into the benchmark sessions.

Again we see very proper SLI scaling.

But yeah that raw beastly rendering performance is pretty frickin spectacular really. With SLI, yeah... not really an issue aint it. Very solid performance scaling alright.

What you will notice is that at WHQD the 970 SLI can keep up very well with the Titan-Z and 780 Ti SLI. Later on we will also focus in on Ultra HD gaming, that's where you'll start seeing some bigger differences though.
