The Nano S accommodates up to 4 drives. Sound dampening materials can be spotted on front and right side panels; left side panel includes a transparent window. Nice rubberized grommet holes and cable routing with the help of velcro strips.
Here we mount an SSD. The vertical mount obvious functions as replacement for any HDD bracket. HDD mounting works the same, the chassis can hold two 3.5" drives and two 2.5" drives. You need to secure the HDD/SSD with screws. A bit of a step backwards in terms of HDD mounting really, and though i am not a fan of such a "cheap" solution -- it works. I would have liked to see some rubber hangers or something in which you secure the storage units. BTW we tried, yes the panel closes properly with the HDD installed.
The two SSD positions behind the motherboard backside tray can hold thick SSDs though, SSDs up to 13 mm thick.
At the front-side there's an extra bracket for HDD mounting seated, you can move that one to the backside. And there you have it, the Fractal Design Nano S chassis. Elegant, simple and definitely feature rich for a ITX chassis. Let's head over to some final build photos.
