The board is loaded with LEDs as well, it gives the product that mysterious looks. They stay activated even when the PC is powered down. Here we can already see the board seated onto a test bench. DarkMode (LED Light Disable) is available as well.

As for memory, the Z77 FTW uses a dual channel memory architecture. The board itself supports a maximum of 4 DIMM up-to 32GB of DDR3 2133/1866/1600/1333/1066MHz. XMP profiles are supported of course.

When we flip the board around we see a right angled 24-pin ATX power connector to the middle left, great if you have a small motherboard and lots of room for cable management, not so great if you have an EATX sized motherboard and little room in the chassis.

SATA wise, the Z77 FTW offers:

  • 6 x Serial ATA 300MB/sec (4x Internal + 2x E-SATA) with support for RAID 0, RAID1, RAID 0+1, RAID5, RAID10 and JBOD
  • 4 x Serial ATA 600MB/sec (4 Internal) with support for RAID 0 and RAID1

If we zoom in a little to the rear right of the motherboard then located just below the DIMM slots we see a reset and power button. These also function as power and HDD activity LEDs. To your left an right angled ATX power connector we see a diagnostic post/status LED. It will display error codes if something fails. These codes are located in the manual and you can relate the codes towards the problem at hand. Once booted into windows the Status LED will display CPU temperatures.
