The Verdict.

A couple of months ago we tested the Enermax Liberty 620 Watt. To date that PSU is being used in one of our test systems as it rocks. Enermax is a company who knows what it's doing, they simply do not disappoint. Even if you'd be on the limit of the what's written on that box you can rest assure that the PSU even then will have a little reserve left. This 1000 Watt Galaxy for example can manage a load of 1100 Watts .. but there's no way we can test that in a real-world situation.

Amazing stuff. We however are not capable in any way to stress this power supply. With one of the most modern setup's available we measured merely a 420 Watts maximum. Which for such a gigantic system us amazing. The thing is ... we are all to focused on that "Watt" label. Fact is that we had four GPU cores sucking up 8 AMPs each connected towards this PSU. And during a stress test the PSU did not even show a slight hiccup. So that's what you need to focus on .. the 12 volts rails is becoming intensely more important which each year that passes, it's almost a little scary.

One question arises .. do you really need a 1000 Watts PSU ?

Well ... how much capacity do you need? What kind of system are you building? How much money are you willing to spend on a quality PSU? Should it be SLI/Crossfire capable with multiple 12 volt rails? Should it be near silent? Should it be aesthetically pleasing? Would you like to invest in absolute stability? Do you hate "ordinary" wiring ? These are just a few factors in your decision and they are all related to the purchase of a PSU. With these reviews, we hope to help you a little in that choice but the fact is that your PSU plays a really intense roll in your PC.

This Galaxy PSU is all about the future as once you buy it you can rest assure that anything you throw at it will be Guru3D.com Editors Choice Awardeaten alive without a problem. Quad CPU / Quad GPU ... it just does not matter.

We gave the Galaxy EGA1000EWL a good kick in the proverbial you know what, and it took it like a man. This 3 Kg little gem simply will smile back at you and say .. "did you honestly expect me to sweat about that ?". I just loved the new power guard function as it certainly helps you figure what exactly could be an issue. Other really fine features obviously are the Five +12V Rails, High efficiency (85%), Quad GPU compatibility, Quad CPU Support, Modular Cables and I even think I read somewhere that you can connect 24 drives to this unit :)

There are no disadvantages other then the price of this unit. It's most certainly is expensive as it'll cost you roughly 320 USD. But please .. see of it as a good investment rather then an expense as this unit can last for many years to come.

This PSU is extreme in all it's ways, instead of Galaxy they should have called it dark matter, as it's a small mystery. I hate the fact that today's PC's really need this kind of PSU's but can't help that I have fallen in love with this unit. It'll get a nice place in one of our videocard test systems where it'll be nurtured, fed and loved for a long time.

If you are in the extreme high-end segment looking for a PSU, or even better, in the market for Quad SLI the the Enermax Galaxy 1000W is something you should definitely put on your wish-list as I can recommend whole-heartedly.

Now then .. Quad SLI further investigated ... expect a review this week ;)
