Dishonored 2 is being developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Though the first Dishonored was developed by both Arkane teams in Lyon (France) and Austin (America), its sequel was developed largely solely in Lyon as Arkane Studios Austin were focused on developing 2017's Prey. Both studios, however, collaborated on the game, and playtested each other's builds.

The game runs on Arkane's new internal "Void" engine, as opposed to Unreal Engine 3 that was previously used in Dishonored. The Void engine is based on id Tech 5, with art director Sebastien Mitton saying the team kept "[roughly] 20 percent" of the original engine. Arkane removed unneeded elements from the engine like the mini open world and overhauled the graphics. The new engine is intended to improve in-game lighting and post-processing to help the game's visuals, and allows the game to visualize subsurface scattering.

In order to ansure a smooth gaming experience, you should first verify that your computer’s specs meet the system requirements to run Dishonored 2. Make sure that the recommended system requirements are met before you purchase the game.

So for our reference baseline results we test with our image quality settings maxed out aside from what we'll mention, overall a nice quality setting for PC gamers alright. The game allows you to tweak several graphics settings, but has your typical presets ranging from the lowest to the best image quality settings. With a mainstream graphics card, as our tests will show you we are going to recommend the Ultra quality settings mode. The presets make full use of all the available settings – the 'Ultra' preset is the highest on everything which while the 'Low' preset is the absolute lowest settings on all counts.
