Final Words and conclusion

Final words and conclusion

When we tested the Vengeance K60 keyboard we where impressed, the same applied to the K90 and now the K70 again is a product that brings a smile to my face. Sure, the Corsair Vengeance K70 is not a completely new design keyboard though, its the evolution of the Vengeance Gaming Keyboard series and quite honestly, Corsair did a splendid job as this round they listened to end-user feedback. All keys now are mechanical, so no more dome based keys.

The inclusion of the swappable rubberized gaming keys are a thing worthy of mentioning, but most of all the LED back-lighting and all its options are the icing on top of the cake as far as I am concerned. For the K70 again the primary functionality and feel is just great. And yeah i know, this is not a cheap set of keys at 130 USD / 125 EUR
price-tag. But you really are receiving something well designed and comfortable to play games on. For me the K70 is a keeper as the feature-list is miles long aimed at professional gamers with specs that baffle even me. Though I like the original silver colored aluminum design, I seem to adore this anodized black aluminum version, that just looks 10x better. But here again taste is subjective and realistically I can see some users complaining that the board has red back-lit keys for this particular model, and not white or blue ones. But me personally, I adore the design and color schema, I really do.

Don't forget that this keyboard has a nifty set of features and improvements:

  • Every key is now mechanical, using Cherry MX Red key-switches – so the K70 is 100% mechanical.
  • Per-key adjustable backlighting, using red LEDs, so that you can customise which keys are lit.
  • Included are contoured red WASD and 1-6 key-caps.
  • Brushed aluminium frame - K70 is also available in black anodised aluminium, as well as silver.
  • Full-sized wrist rest, similar to the one used on the K90 (and K95) for greater comfort when gaming.
  • 1000Hz polling rate.
  • Full key rollover, 100% anti-ghosting
  • And then extra's like the media keys and USB pass-thru. BIOS  switch on the rear that allows you to reduce the polling rate from 1000Hz to 500, 250 or 125Hz
That's all good stuff alright. But then again, you are paying for it, so you may expect extensive features and specifications.

Final words

Like any mechanical keyboard and first time usage of this concept, it does take getting used to a little. Give yourself a few days with they keyboard to fully understand it and get a feel for it. As using a mechy definitely is a little different compared to your run of the mill keyboard. We do have to warn you though that if you use the keyboard for productivity (typing letters etc) then noise might become a factor to consider. Mechanical keyboards are simply more noisy when you type on them. That said, we already liked the K60 and k90, so we can only acknowledge that the Vengeance K70 is the logical evolution of the two. Again, mechanical keyboards are aimed at gamers and you do need to keep that in mind. The K70 is very mature and very feature rich. It has a nice base that sits tight on your desktop with rubber feet and quite a hefty keyboard weight. We like the  rubberized swappable WASD & 1~6 keys and that back-lighting system is just downright hot stuff. So with all factors and features combined we again recommend the K70 to the masses of FPS player out there. If you need programmable keys, then be on the lookout for the new K95 which has many G keys. Overall it's a sturdy design as well, typing on it immediately gives you the feel that the product can take beating alright.

So concluding we can only state that the K70 is highly recommended for the true FPS gamer that likes a little more niche for his or her desktop fragging gaming rig. Small note, Corsair is also going to offer the K70 with Cherry MX Brown and MX Blue keys as optional SKUs.
