Final Words & Conclusion

Final Words & Conclusion

Admittedly we like the entire Vengeance Keyboard series very much. This is the first Raptor we have tested and admittedly I am impressed. The Raptor series is aimed to be more mainstream, and while it certainly has a somewhat "cheaper" feel opposed to the Vengeance series, it certainly didn't disappoint. I mean, plastic yeah, but great functionality, RGB back-lighting, programmable G macro keys and profiles and an overall good design make the K40 a great mainstream keyboard for the everyday gamer.

If anything the most funky feature of the K40 has to be the RGB LED back-lighting, it really is the icing on top of the cake as far as I am concerned. So for 65 EUR I am sold. The K40 is
well designed and comfortable to play games on. Now admittedly, gaming wise, I do have a preference for mechanical keyboards, but dome isn't bad at all. The keys all have a good feel and pressure for dome keys. And well personally, I adore the design and color schema, I really do.

Don't forget that this keyboard has a nifty set of features and improvements:

  • Rubber dome keys
  • RGB 16.8 million color backlighting with three levels of illumination
  • Six dedicated macro keys
  • 36KB of onboard memory
  • Seven easy-access multimedia keys
  • Stop, Previous, Play/Pause, Next, Mute, Volume Up, Down
  • Windows Lock key for uninterrupted game play

Final Words

It might not be a mechanical keyboard but strip away that fact alone and the rest of the K40 is simply well thought through and top notch. The Raptor K40 is a logical step for Corsair to address a more mainstream market as the Raptor series is cheaper (not cheap) then mechanical keyboards. You get all the gaming features you wish for including highlighted WASD and arrow keys, RGB back-lighting, multimedia options and full programmable Gaming keys with macro's as well. That's good stuff for any gamer. All factors and features combined we again recommend the K40 to the masses of gamers out there. Overall it's a sturdy design as well, typing on it immediately gives you the feel that the product can take beating alright.

So the last and final words on the K40 would be that we can certainly recommend this keyboard to the true FPS gamer that does not want to spend 100 EUR or more on a mechanical keyboard, but does want the sweeter gamer options. All-in-all we think that if this keyboard fits your budget, then go for it - we can definitely recommend it.
