Gettin Jiggy With The Obsidian 900D Super Tower

Today we go all big and review the all new Corsair Obsidian 900D chassis. It ain't mid-tower, not full-tower, heck this beast is called, tagged and bagged as a super tower. And yes, it is probably one of the biggest products you'll have seen to date. It is highly configurable, has hidden options in every corner and a craftsmanship that will stun you. Oh and then there's the space... good gosh, the space.

Obsidian - back in the Roman Empire, if a person discovered some sort of mineral they would call him Obsius, it nearly forms the name of today's tested product. So when the Obsius found a, usually black or banded, hard volcanic glass that displays shiny, curved surfaces when fractured and is formed by rapid cooling of lava -- it was called... Obsidian. And Corsair today launches its 900D. So it's like this, every now and then a chassis enters the top secret Guru3D test lab, and when all the scientists gather around a product, you just know it's something special. So I had to send all these other guys home, just to get my hands on the Obsidian 900D myself, heck yeah!

Can you guys remember the Odsidian 800D? Well of course you do, it is still massively popular and the aesthetic design remains cutting edge to date. That product was released in May 2009 you guys! The 900D is the flagship successor. This chassis is crafted for the guys that need perfection, for overclockers, enthusiast users and tweakers who need to open up their computer quite often and need space to work in. It's for the guys that want to stick to air cooling, it is for the guys that want to go nasty with water cooling and so on; the 900D serves a lot of people.

The 900D is tagged as Super Tower chassis, and that means that it can even swallow HPTX form factor motherboards while it can house up to four 5.25" devices and up to nine 2.5/3.5" HDDs (three hot-swappable ones) as well as room for two power supplies. If nine storage bays isn't enough for you(?), Corsair will sell additional storage cages, allowing you to increase the number of storage bays to 15. There are 15 fan mount locations as well as five radiator mounting points -- yes, five sized from 120mm up to 480mm.

But you know what? Talk is cheap, you guys want photos. So we'll show about 50 of them today! Have a quick peek first... meet the Obsidian 900D Super Tower and then head on over to the next page.
