Final Words & Conclusion

Final Words & Conclusion

Corsair has been on a winning streak with their power supplies ever since the last year or two. That can make these conclusions a bit dull really as Corsair will get nothing other then praises from us. The HX750i I'm afraid is again a really terrific product, I mean it is an upgrade over the previous, model which already was darn good but it again got better by a decent margin. These PSU's are designed for the the PC DIY builders who want quality, the guys with a Z97 based system and say a 4770K processor with a nice high-end graphics card. The efficiency of the HX750i it pretty fracking good as well, and next to the totally modular design this without doubt is a very compelling PSU series. The trend in hardware lately is to be more power efficient and Corsair is slaying on-wards into a crowded PSU battlefield arena, now bringing even 750 Watt power supplies to Platinum efficiency levels.

Element 78

As with any power supply, half the maximum load rating is the point of equilibrium for a power supply, that's where it'll be the most efficient and in this case at 230V that is 94% efficiency (!). As such the 375 Watt range is actually a sweet-spot as an average gaming PC with one dedicated graphics card would consumer roughly that during a hefty gaming session. While zoning that 50% range we can confirm that the power efficiency is most definitely excellent as it performed smack down where it needs to be with other Platinum tested models. At a srp price of 169 USD the product is on the expensive side though. But hey, you do get what you pay for, a high-end super stable and quality PSU with very nice efficiency levels, great looks, nice connectivity and of course LINK. Great to see is that Corsair really believes in this PSU and grants it a massive 7 years warranty. We bow to that fact, yes Sir.

Stability

Stability wise we have very little to complain at half load say 350 / 400 watts voltages remained drop dead in sync. But we'll trust that some other reviews will show some ripple tests yet have no doubt the product will come out totally clean. Kick-ass is obviously the massive single +12V rail, it has just so much power to handle multiple heavy duty graphics cards. 63 AMPs, considering that one graphics card uses 15A on average these days you do the math.

Aesthetics

The Corsair HX750i looks great with its dark and Guru3D blue color accents ;) The PSU slightly exceeds ATX length at 18cm, no biggy though. The cables are delivered in a dark black coating, flat-cable mostly. Good to see is that the plastic connectors themselves are all black as well. Modular designs are the way to go. You use what you need in terms of wiring, keeping the innards clean and tidy, plain and simple. And overall the HX750i is a great looking PSU.

Final words

If you like to be a power efficient, seek quality with that geeky modular design combined sheer silence, then the HX750i might just be what your tech-doctor has ordered. It is an impressive power supply from A to Z and we can't really find anything that concerns us (believe we tried to find something!). The one thing that could hold you back is the pricing as 169 USD is steep for any PSU really. However expect lower street prices to be in the 150 USD range. The EURO street price should hover in the 145 EUR range for this 750 Watt model according to the latest price-watch listings, and for what Corsair offers that is a fair price. The 7 year warranty that you receive with this product IMHO kicks butt, great stuff which makes the PSU stands out from others by a good margin. Corsairs Link software for real-time monitoring and control is something you need to like, albeit it is a nice software suite to at least fool around with a bit. This PSU is at a quality and feature level different from the rest of the recommended gear and as such I feel strongly that our hard to get Top Pick award is well deserved. For a platinum certified PSU with Link and all other features this remains a fair price for a very impressive product, yeah that would be me last words for this review here. Nice job Corsair.
