Final words and conclusion

Final words and conclusion

Well hey now, impressive, for 50 USD/EUROs Corsair has a really good headset to offer! I mean, I heard you guys state it in previous Corsair reviews, please strip the RGB, wireless and audio card. Well, this is the end-result. A pure analog headset with two proper 50mm drivers. The wearing comfort is totally fine, good even and the audio quality beats anything you throw at this set that is within this price range. Giving you guys an objective qualification on a headset, however, remains such a hard thing to do. What I might like in that audio envelope, you might hate. Some like deep bass, other normalized and so on. However, in my personal opinion, the HS50 simply delivers really good audio for this kind of cash. There is a rich and vibrant audio quality coming from the two massive neodymium 50mm drivers. They offer rich sound and a wide audio spectrum. Audiophiles will hate it what I say it, but if you like a little more Bass, you'll have your soundcard EQ at your disposal. For gaming, some might miss virtualized 7.1 sound, but that again remains to be a subjective statement.

Wearing Comfort

The new HS50 is a headset done right, the pure basics at a good price with proper audio quality. However, there is another factor to consider, wearing comfort. Honestly, the HS50 feels light and comfy all way around, plain and simple. The ear padding is a little tougher with that leathery feel compared to other Corsair headsets, but still very comfortable. The headband is done right, as here that leathery feel is just right. You can adjust the cup height relative to your head, lacking, however, are hinges/swivel points for the cups, but again that did not bother me even the slightest bit. In short, this set offers pretty comfy wearing.

Concluding

For the sheer sum of 50 USD/EUR, you should not underestimate the quality the HS50 offers, both in audio quality as well as wearing comfort. I was battling to give this headset either a top pick or great value award. In the end, it is the value proposition that Corsair offers here that is the primary factor, but yeah this is golden stuff. Since you can't tweak the headset to your liking sound wise, the sky is the limit but that does require you to have an audio card with tweaking options. but honestly, by default, this headset sounds good already. Taste in audio, however, is a subjective thing. Personally, I would recommend the Corsair HS50 headset to the music aficionado as well as the gamer looking for a proper sounding headset for under $50. While it isn't a boom-stick MIC, the HS50 offers overall decent MIC quality but not superb. Also, we would have liked to see a bit more cable length. Other than that, hey, it is backed by a 2-year warranty and overall good stuff. In the end, it's all about the sound quality versus money. The 50mm drivers offer good default quality in terms of sound combined with my aforementioned remarks, as yes, tweaking to your preference might be needed and mandatory. This might be one of the best if not the best gaming headset in the sub-50 bucks range, at least from what we have tested to date. The two 50mm driver do its magic, this is a properly good headset, recommended.
