Okay, we're going to have a closer look at the product guided with the help of a lot of photos. As always, packaging and bundle first. The core features of the K95 RGB Platinum are fairly similar compared to the more recent releases, hey, they do share the same DNA. Our sample has Cherry MX Speed keys (awesome for gaming), 1000Hz polling, full-key rollover over USB and 100% anti-ghosting. Each key is RGB back-lit independently.

Unpacking shows a simple bundle, the keyboard, the soft touch wrist rest and a manual/warranty guide. Corsair has changed their packaging from standard cardboard towards a more luxurious feel with that glossy black packaging. The K95 RGB Platinum, as you can see, comes with some extra red replaceable WASD keys that offer a more tactile feel. This keyboard is intended for RTS and FPS gaming. We'll show you the keyboard powered on over the next few pages of course.

Here we have a better and closer look at the keyboard, the word 'sturdy' comes to mind. The keyboard once again is heavy at 1.32 KG and is made out of a plastic base with brushed aluminum, dark, on top of it (or gunmetal depending on your purchasing choice). This anodized brushed black aluminum version looks the best (in my humble opinion). The dark aluminum top base gives the product a rather unique look and feel. It will also help with dampening vibrations.

The wrist rest is new and comes with rubberized padding that has magnetic clips in it. you can take it off, clean it, swap it, whatever. It's pure rubber and is very relaxing to use during a hefty gaming session. As stated, the K95 has a heavy weight, and combined with rubber feet will ensure the keyboard does not slide away. It has a firm and solid grip on my desktop. The K95 has six extra programmable gaming keys to the left side. The keyboard registers ALL keys pressed at once, as such this allows full key rollover.

The media function keys on the keyboard itself are basic yet functional. The metal volume knob is really handy and the signature for high-end Corsair Gaming keyboards, people love that. There is also a Windows Lock mode key, which allows you to disable the Windows key and never get dropped back to the desktop by accident in a hefty gaming session. These functions are all supported at default, there's no need to install any software whatsoever. The keys themselves are a bit exposed, simple cleaning works out well with, say, a can of compressed air. However, being exposed like that has another effect as well, the base could collect dirt a bit more quickly. While that is not very different with conventional keyboards, the reality remains that the base is exposed and a little more susceptible to dirt. While writing this I realize I am nitpicking here.
