Final words and conclusion

Final words

The new SPEC Omega is an interesting PC case in an interesting product line. It is, however, a chassis that feels  a bit mainstream, not at all entry-level but also isn't enthusiast class. But hey ... it is supposed to sit in that range. The overall build quality is certainly decent enough to leave a good impression. And the features offered will give the average PC aficionado plenty to work with.  In our mock-up setup, the acoustics are silent based on the default two fan configuration. But we can measure anything and everything and rate it, but it remains subjective. Your choice of components/cooling is to be the decisive factor in noise versus cooling performance. Features wise you can't complain here either, two HDDs and three SSDs will fit as well as a decent sized PSU. Realistically though, the SPEC-Omega series is a chassis that comes with everything you need. It certainly has sufficient enough cooling options and airflow for that, the larger graphics cards will fit, ATX and Micro ATX fit perfectly as well. Please do take note of the fact that your CPU cooler may not be any higher than 165mm.

Aesthetics

The thing with the SPEC-Omega, however, is that you will really need to like the asymmetrical and angular look. We like the added tempered glass and the simple one color LED strip at the front-side as well as a LED enabled SP120 fan on the inside. But once you start to build the system, you'll slowly appreciate it more and more. Honestly, I am not the biggest fan of the angular design of the Omega, however, taste is such a subjective thing.

An all-black design is cool, you, of course, will get some options is color designs. The aesthetics overall are kept really simple (no screaming flashing logos etc). Added benefits are of course the two USB 3.0 ports, the mainboard cutout on the motherboard tray and the overall tool-free design. The PSU and its cables, however, are visible, I would have preferred some sort of cover here. We do like the storage bays as well as the handy 2.5" SSD bracket mounting design.

The Acoustics

A plus of the chassis are the plentiful air intakes combined with very low noise levels. Tested with the 120mm fans you will be hardpressed to hear this chassis. At an up-to, 40~50% fan RPM is smooth sailing and without noise. And trust me, I'm quite picky when it comes to computers and computer parts making noises. But overall yeah, it's fine really.

The workspace inside is great with easy access to pretty much anything and with 7 expansions lots there is plenty room for two graphics cards. There's the all-black interior cool looks, the CPU backplate cutout for easy installation/replacement of CPU-coolers and overall features that belong to the enthusiast segment. There are plenty of grommet holes for cable routing but the rear side could have used some more clearance for better cable hiding/routing.

Final words

The SPEC-Omega truly is a funny chassis with very little flaws. As stated though, I would have liked more room for cable routing at the rear and perhaps a PSU cover to hide that power supply and the cables. Other than that it all comes down to taste and your subjective preferences in design. For some the angular design will be hard to swallow, others will very likely love it. Overall the build quality fine and you can quite easily tuck away LCS coolers in there, the front side would be excellent for that with room for up-to 360mm LCS kits. At 99 USD you'll receive a chassis that can house most all common components that you'll need for a modern age PC, aside from optical devices. The price tag feels a notch too high though if you can spot this unit at say 79 bucks in retail with a little rebate or something, there it'll probably make more sense. Overall we think the Carbide SPEC-Omega is a funny and very decent chassis that has all the basics needs covered. You receive a bit of LED bling as well as a front and side tempered glass see-through panel. The build is at a quality level I cannot complain about in this price range, with a sufficient enough feature set making this chassis interesting. Though taste differs and is subjective we certainly can recommend the new Carbide as a fun looking and performing chassis with low acoustics.
