Final words and conclusion

The Cooler Master Cosmos II is a myriad of excellence really, it just has it all... including the steep price. We'll talk about that in a minute though.

The Cosmos II is an Ultra Tower, as such it is aimed at the extreme enthusiast PC user, which happens to be a good chunk of the Guru3D visitor demographics. It's the guys with the XL-ATX motherboards, three to four graphics cards that need serious airflow and the room for hefty liquid cooling that this chassis appeals to. Well mission accomplished, the Cosmos II has everything you need. The airflow, the space, features like the HDD space, ease of use, USB 2.0 ports and then USB 3.0 ports, the integrated fan controller and sure... the sheer looks.

That is the one thing that people might dislike -- the style. We say it over and over again, you can't argue taste as it is the most subjective thing and does not make the job of reviewer any easier. Some will hate it, and others will love this chassis for its looks. Fact is that if the aesthetics suit you, then really it will not get much better than this. Each and every little aspect of the chassis has been thought through really well. The design of the chassis has been made to make your life a little easier while combining the best features an enthusiast crowd seeks in a chassis.

So there's very little left to be desired as the CM team thought through it all, the optimal cooling, the fan controller, dust filters, the handles, the lovely USB 3.0 integration, tool free design, the new X-Dock and so on. About the X-Dock, we like it. You simply pop in an HDD, close the lid and it's added. Of course do make sure you connect the internal SATA cables to a hot swappable controller + software. If not, power down first of course.

All internals are great too, the biggest motherboards will fit, the most lengthy graphics card will fit, heck, even four of them if your mobo allows it. Then there's space for liquid cooling, the lower drive bays which you can remove, the really nice motherboard cutout and there's just plenty of space left for cable routing through the grommet holes, all in that all-black painted interior. With the included five fans you can create a serious amount of airflow. You decide how fast you want to run them with the help of the fan controller, overall the balance in-between airflow and noise seems to be formidable, and I'm quite anal when it comes to noise alright.
We said it before in the Storm Trooper review, any chassis Cooler Master releases these days is a win, at least in my book. So yeah it all comes down to aesthetics, your requirements and the price you are willing to cough up for a chassis. And therein lies the problem, we are not saying it's not worth it, but the 'suggested' price tag is just too high at 349 EUR, it makes it very expensive and out of range for many people. Honestly I expected it to be in the 275 EUR range, but we do expect though that once volume availability kicks in that the price will drop to sub 299 EUR -- but it is still a lot of money.

May I nitpick just a little? I would have really liked to see the front panel connectors behind a hinge or small latch -- that again is taste though, if not in use the exposed ports seem a little so-so in the direct vicinity. Secondly there are no side intake fans on the left-hand door, I would have loved to see something there close to the graphics cards. There is however massive airflow coming in from the front side though. Anyway, that's all I have to moan about really as the chassis itself is downright exceptional.guru3d-recommended_150px.jpg

Concluding, Cooler Master has been able to release a long list of esteemed cases over the past few years from that renowned CM690, Trooper, Silencio up-to the Cosmos, to the gamer oriented HAF and Storm series. Each and every time they hit the nail on the head as CM designs cases that appeal to gamers and enthusiasts, this audience. Pricing aside, the CM Cosmos II is an excellent combination of features, requirements, looks and sheers space. We can wholeheartedly recommend it as one of the most versatile chassis' we have tested to date. Honestly guys, the photos do not do the product any true justice, once you meet and greet it for real, it will impress, massively. But yeah, that price level hurts alright. The Cooler Master Cosmos II will be available starting today and is covered by a two year carry in warranty.
