Specifications and Features

Alright, let's get this article started. The Scout 2 Advanced chassis we test is a mid-sized tower, delivered at our doorsteps in the flavor “Ghost White” edition and comes with a black & white design. CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced is the upgraded edition of Scout 2. It supports up to 9 fans, including two pre-installed 120mm white LED fans in the front for optimized cooling.

It features improved steel reinforced carrying handles that are bolted to the core structure. The I/O panel has been upgraded to include USB 3.0 for high power charging and lightning fast file transfers. The panel can be hidden and protected from dusty battlefields, friendly fire, and melee attacks behind a sliding cover. The first HDD cage can be removed to support large graphics cards like the NVIDIA GTX 690 and AMD HD 7990.

Other features of the Scout 2 Advanced include three 5.25-inch drive bays, seven 3.5-inch bays (four of which can convert to 2.5-inch bays), seven expansion slots, USB 3.0 support, room for up to nine fans, and a painted interior.

Features:

  • Ergonomic steel reinforced carrying handles bolted to support beams of the core structure
  • Dual USB 3.0 support for 10x faster file transfer and high current smart phone / tablet charging (~1A)
  • Supports up to 3 ODDs (tool-less), 7 HDDs and 4 SSDs for increased expandability
  • Supports up to 9 fans, including two 120mm fans on the acrylic side panel window
  • Top panel LED switch to disable the two 120mm white LED fans in the front

Aside from the color options, the other change Cooler Master made to the Advanced model is a retooling of the dust filter layout, which has been "re-evaluated to provide better coverage," the case maker says. Anyway, we can write 2000 words and you'd still not grasp the whole content, so let's fire up the photo shoot, as a picture says a thousand words -- right?
