VGA performance Recording Level and IQ settings

Graphics (VGA) performance Recording Level and IQ settings

Before we begin with the graphics performance tests a little explanation. We use a time based measurement, since we can not record a time demo. In the 3rd level of the game we play the game for roughly one minute and follow a set/repeated path. In fact that level is more stringent on the GPU, harsh even, making it a great level to test in.

For all our graphics performance tests we apply the Quality settigns as discussed at 4xMSAA / FXAA with all graphics quality settings maxed out. We confirmed that DX11 is activated.

The twenty-threegraphics cards used are:

GeForce 650 Ti
GeForce GTX 470
GeForce GTX 560 Ti
GeForce GTX 480
GeForce GTX 570
GeForce GTX 580
GeForce GTX 660
GeForce GTX 660 Ti
GeForce GTX 670
GeForce GTX 680
GeForce GTX 690
Radeon HD 7770 (GHz)
Radeon HD 6850
Radeon HD 5850
Radeon HD 6870
Radeon HD 7850
Radeon HD 6950
Radeon HD 6970
Radeon HD 6990
Radeon HD 7870 (GHz)
Radeon HD 7950 Boost
Radeon HD 7970
Radeon HD 7970 Boost

Each card runs on the same PC with the same operating system clone. GeForce cards use the latest 310.54 Beta driver and for AMD Radeon graphics cards we used the latest 12.11 Beta build 7 driver with the latest available CAP for multi-GPU support.

Our test setup is based on Intel X58 (MSI Big bang XPower) with 6 GB of DDR3 ( Corsair 1600 MHz) memory. The processor is a Core i7 965 clocked at 3750 MHz.  This system is an equivalent to a Core i7 2600 K processor, to the frame precisely actually. We use Windows 7 64-bit SP1 all patched up.

Let's head onwards to the next page where we'll look at the 1280x768 and 1600x1200 monitor resolution performance first.
