Final Words and Verdict

We were quite impressed with the overall sound quality of this unit.  The TC-750 offers crystal clear, layered sound staging and no audible noise or distortion to speak of.  The sonic signature is very laidback yet full, resolving, offering a great musical quality.  The unit allowed a lot of emotion to come through from the vocalist because of the clarity of the unit. Bass is tight and articulate with no boominess or washout.  Although we tested the headphone amplifier with some Sennheisers HD595s we kept going back to the line outputs connected to our Class D and monitors. We found the stock opamps to be very warm and a bit rolled off in the high end offering a very analog flavor to the output.  We will also say we preferred the sound with the higher quality opamp modification.

The I/O sections on this DAC just sweeten the pot allowing you to fully integrate this unit into your existing audio system.  The output array allows easy source switching with the press of a button and the DAC switches from speaker to headphones when they are inserted.

The TC-7520 really has many modification options and the sound quality can be improved easily with a modest investment.  More experienced tweakers will like to spacious internals allows new circuits and larger caps to be added if needed.  The stock opamps provide a very laidback type of response with a very warm analog flavor.  If you like youre response more aggressive or forward you can snap in the LMs or the 4032s and have a more detailed response.
