Storage performance on SATA6G and USB 3.0
With the new SATA3 6G controller and USB 3.0 controllers, we started adding SSD performance numbers measured on such interfaces (when applicable). Putting these in nicely styled charts would be better, but with technology so new we just do not have anything out there yet to compare to, so here are some RAW numbers:
We use the A-DATA N002 Solid State Drive which has both a SATA2 and USB 3.0 port.
Above, you can see a N002 series A-DATA Solid State Drive running over the NEC USB 3.0 controller on this motherboard. The implementation works well, we see top ranking performance, really that is top notch USB 3.0 performance.
Last but not least, some numbers based on regular SATA2 over the SATA3 6G controller of this motherboard, there surely is nothing to be ashamed about that performance. All products use the same Marvell controller hence the close results.
ASUS initially had a mild success with the Sabertooth series, they carefully launched just in the USA as a tryout, yet once the concept picked up, they noticed demand worldwide. Head on over to the next page where we'll discuss the X79 chipset, the respective ASUS models. Then we'll throw a decent photo-shoot and a benchmark suite at the products and get an indication what performance is like with the Intel Core i7-3960X (Sandy Bridge-E) and X79 Platform.
ASUS TUF Sabertooth X58 review
We test and review the ASUS TUF Sabertooth X58 motherboard. This military class design motherboard comes with some nice extra features, offers great performance and overclocks quite well also. All that for a really interesting price.
