Eee Pad Transformer Prime features

So, two weeks ago ASUS launched the quad-core Tegra 3 based Eee Pad Transformer Prime -- it's an incredible product. Fast, thin and huge in specs. The Transformer Prime has been equipped with an exclusive optional ASUS mobile dock with keyboard.

As you all know by now, the 10.1-inch Transformer Prime is powered by Nvidias quad-core Tegra 3 SoC that is paired together with 1GB of RAM, a GPS, a gyroscope, SonicMaster audio and a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera.

Also, a rear 8MP resolution camera has been embedded that comes with auto-focus support, an f/2.4 lens, a back-illuminated CMOS sensor, and is capable of recording 1080p video (though with the lens quality always will remain average).

Together with the tablet, Asus adds another six hours of running time to the tablet's 12 hours battery life estimate. So the dock functions as an extra battery pack as well.

The basic Transformer Prime model comes with 32GB of storage space and can be upgraded via a microSD slot, but users also have the option of going for a beefier 64GB Prime. The Eee Pad Transformer Prime 32GB with docking keyboard retails at EUR 599, and the Eee Pad Transformer 64Gb without docking keyboard also for EUR 599.

NVIDIA's new Tegra 3 quad-core clocks in at 1.3 GHz and comprises of a Cortex-A9 CPU and ULP GeForce GPU offering 1GB RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded to another 32GB via microSD card.

It sports a rear-facing 8 megapixel flash camera with 1080p video playback and a secondary 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera. Actually, the initial Eee Pad Transformer Prime has Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS, which can be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Our review sample has ICS installed.

Weight then, we measured with the help of the good old professional kitchen scale:

Weight in Grams:

  • Tablet only: 584
  • Tablet with dock : 1110

Overall Brilliant specs of course, the tablet will certainly be able to run all modern apps and, with the dock, will have more stamina than one them blue pills.
