The motherboards is Intel X79 Chipset based on a Socket 2011 and follows the EATX (Extended ATX) form factor. That means its a tad bigger then your average motherboard, please do make sure your PC chassis is compatible with EATX (12 inch x 10.7 inch ( 30.5 cm x 27.2 cm ). The board has one 8-pin power feed for the processor and then another 6-pin connector located just behind the rear IO panel. The X79 board has eight slots for Quad-Channel DDR3 memory which you can occupy with up to 8 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR3 2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory.

Here are the all eSATA/SATA ports -- ASUS is equipping the board with twin SATA ports. Six of them come from the Intel PCH and the rest are provided by ASMedia 1061 controllers. For SSDs stick to the Intel controller please which is a good chunk faster.

Two ASMedia ASM1061 controllers: 

  • 2 x eSATA 6Gb/s port(s), red

Here you can see the PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, here's how they will divide:

  • 4 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x16 or x16/x8/x16 or x16/x8/x8/x8)

Additionally, for those people who want the ultimate gaming performance, the motherboard supports up-to 4-way SLI and CrossfireX configurations.

As you can see, the mobo comes with 10k Black Metallic capacitors, offer a longer lifespan with 10k hours at 105C, and 20% better low temperature endurance - specifically selected for extreme cooling scenarios. The overall choice on components is the best of the best really, it won't get much better then this.
