Product Showcase
ASUS went a little extreme with six connectors but yeah, this would be a perfect single card solution for Eyefinity setups, it'll have plenty of power so the multiple display outputs certainly will come in handy. You'll receive two DVI connectors and then four display port connectors. If you need a resolution higher than 1920x1200. be sure to get a monitor with Display Port connectors. Combined you could pull of 6-way eyefinity monitor setup. We'll be testing with three monitors in Eyefinity mode today as well.
Here at the top side of the cards you'll see an ARES II logo, it's lits up in red. ARES II is powered by a PCB design that makes use of power 20 Phases featuring the DIGI+ VRM design. ASUS ROG ARES II is proclaimed to be 13% faster than the GeForce GTX 690 from NVIDIA.
You will need to hook the card up to your power supply with three 8-pin PCIe PEG connectors. We recommend a 800W~850W power supply to start with, with one card of course. In Crossfire (4 GPUs) a 1200~1250 Watt PSU from a quality brand is advised though.
Though this card already runs in 2-way multi-GPU Crossfire mode AMD allows you to opt for 4-way Crossfire as well. You can pair two cards in one PC and have them do a decent workout (which we'll show you in todays article). Overall the card remains cooled within very good limits and isn't that noisy either. But you'll learn all about that over the next few pages of content.
Just 1,000 units will be let loose into the jungle with each piece in a special ROG-themed design and each card laser-etched with serial number on an aluminum backdate as a stamp of exclusivity. Sexy gear for sure.
