5 - Force3D Radeon HD 4850

Force3D Radeon HD 4850

A newcomer in AMD/ATI land is a company called Force3D. It's very nice to see some new board partners bringing ATI based graphics cards. The market can definitely use it. Expect Force3D to slowly start selling their products in Europe, Asia and Eurasia.

They already have some series 3000 products on the market, yet with the 4000 launch they hope to get some more reach. So that's a great opportunity for Guru3D to have a look at one of their products. The first being the Radeon HD 4850. The Radeon HD 4850 that Force3D is selling will be targeted more at the price aware end-user. So do not expect huge bundles and modified hardware just yet.

The Radeon HD 4850 they offer is therefore 100% reference based. Nice single slot design, RED PCB, reference cooler. Though I am not 100% sure just yet, you'll receive a two year warranty with their products. Let's have a peek at the bundle:

Included you'll find:

  • Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3
  • Driver CD
  • Crossfire connector
  • 6-pin to molex converter cable
  • Svideo cable
  • 3-way RCA component cable (Analog HD)
  • VGA-DVI dongle

Please be aware that the Radeon HD 4850 that Force3D offers is 100% reference based, therefore their core clock speed is 625 MHZ and 1986 MHz on the memory. Overall a pretty slim bundle, yet again .. that's strategy as this product will likely sell on the market below that 199 USD suggested retail price. Good stuff, considering the performance you'll get out of it.

But more on that in the benchmark session later in this article.
