XFX GeForce 7600 GT Fatal1ty Edition review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by  | Published: January 14, 2007

The Verdict

XFX GeForce 7600 GT Fatality edition

Even after a year since it's official launch the GeForce series 7600 GT is affordable and offers serious bang for your money.

This mid-range GeForce 7600 GT offers you really good performance for not a lot of money. You'll be able to play all the games currently available if you stick at 10x7 or 12x10.

With slightly older games like Quake 4 you can de even more amazing stuff, for example you could actually use 4xAA and 8xAF modes and still get 37 frames per second with a 1920x1200 resolution. Quite stunning. And if you run out of performance ? Why not opt to go SLI and double up that rendering power again ? The more modern titles are playable quite well at 10x7 and 12x10 as well. Take Company of Heroes for example. With 4x AA and 16xAF you can still play the game perfectly at that latter resolution.

The GeForce 7600 GT offers an exceptional amount of bang for your bucks. I like the fact that XFX made this card as a special edition version. The clocks are higher than reference models of this card, and hey every bit helps but you have to pay extra for it. This card will set you down roughly at 169 EUR/USD. That's roughly the price you can buy a 7900 GS for and that's also the reason why you saw 7900 GS results in our benchmarks. It's just slightly faster for roughly the same amount of money.

Regardless of that, you just have to like this product and it can be purchased for 169 USD/EUR at the time of writing and that's just a nice set of features, performance and value for that kind of money.  Also in combination with NVIDIA's Purevideo this card obviously will rock in a home theater PC due to it's silent nature. It's a feast to the eyes with it's beautiful design and you can't hear the card as it's passively cooled. It's a really tight card to own for sure and will offer you a good gaming experience if you own a 1024x768 or 1280x1024 LCD-screen.

Purely for design and silence we will give the card an editor's choice award. Now, how do I peel off that Fatal1ty logo...!
