 VidaBox Premium Wireless Keyboard review

By: Hilbert Hagedoorn Edited by Ed | Published: November 7, 2009

Final Words and Verdict

So at the time of writing the Vidabox Premium Wireless keyboard comes at a price of roughly 60 USD. Though not cheap, it's not expensive either. The model you have been reading about today is the latest one, the keyboard has been around since 2007 actually yet did go through some design changes mainly to be found in aesthetics and improvements to the laser trackball at 800 DPI.

For HTPC aficionado's it's of course a very handy keyboard. Also with 1920x1080P screens these days the keyboard offers you a little more functionality. You can easily browse the web with it, startup programs, select files, insert a weblink etc. These are the advantages of a HTPC keyboard. We feel as such that the VidaBox Premium Wireless Keyboard is a good all-rounder. There are some things that can be improved though, a couple of programmable keys wouldn't hurt and yeah .. a scroll wheel would have made a nice addition as well. Example, there's this handy button that starts up Windows Media Center. But what if you have Media Portal installed ? it would have been nice to have that option to program that software to that key.

Overall the layout is good, the keyboard is light-weight and the range is excellent. The keyboard is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, and Ubuntu Linux 7.04

Gear like this make usage of a HTPC just a lot more easy as you'll gain a lot of functionality along with comfort. Sure, it's a good step away from the high-end side of things like the Logitech diNovo Edge for example, but that's an entirely different price-class as well.

Bottom line: for a reasonable amount of money you get a handy, nice looking good range angle independent HTPC keyboard, as such we can recommend it very much for any couch potato -- yeah I'll use it as well.

Update: you can get 10% off the keyboard with coupon code "guru3d" (without quotes). This coupon is effective immediately, and is valid until August 31st, 2010!
