TwinTech GeForce GTS 250 1024MB XT OC review | test

Twintech GeForce GTS 250 XT OC edition with 1024 MB

As you have been able to read in the introduction, Twintech is offering more than just reference based products. As such the GeForce GTS 250 cards come in several memory and cooling configurations. We can only applaud this, as brand recognition is all about product differentiation, getting yourself noticed compared to others.

First glimpse: the card is nice to look at, as what jumps out at your eyes is the big Arctic based cooler. The cooler is heatpipe based and one of the more silent models we have tested for a while. It performs good as well, we'll show you that later on though.

Twintech offers no less than six GTS 250 models (three 512MB and three 1024MB) on the market.

  • TT-GTS250-1GD3E-HDMI-ACT-XT (with AC cooler)
  • TT-GTS250-1GD3E-HDMI-XT
  • TT-GTS250-1GD3E-HDMI
  • TT-GTS250-512D3E-HDMI-ACT-XT (with AC cooler)
  • TT-GTS250-512D3E-HDMI-XT
  • TT-GTS250-512D3E-HDMI

We test the biggest, hottest and yes... most expensive version. Under the hood we'll find a G92b chip, the GeForce 9800 GTX+ aka GTS 250. Twintech set its clock frequencies to 756 MHz on the core, 1836 MHz on the shader domain and 2246 MHz on the memory. Overall a tiny overclock, very little. For the money however, you do get to play around with no less than 1024MB GDDR3 video memory and that AC based cooler. Also we spot a HDMI and 2x DVI connectors, which is a nice touch.

Bundled with the product you'll find:

  • GeForce GTS 250 1024 MB
  • Driver CD
  • manual / quick install guide (a bit flimsy really)
  • HDMI->DVI dongle
  • S/PDIF cable
  • 6-pin power converter (1x)

Not exactly an extensive bundle, but all the basics are included, the additional value is to be found in customization (cooler). The XT OC edition series of products comes with a two-year warranty that includes cover for parts and labor at the shop where you purchased this product.

Twintech has a service center in France to provide RMA services for their distributors. In the case of a defective card, the end-user can return the goods to the shop for replacement or repair.
