DeadSpace

Sci-fi, horror and gaming, that’s a combination that really works… Dead Space combines all three of these to form an excellent and exciting game that will keep you enthralled for quite some time. Admittedly, the game can get scary at times. Dead Space is a blistering experience of lashing tentacles infused with a gory gash of a ripper blade. Aside from the string of alien guts and limbs you’ll be leaving behind you, little finishing touches are what really make this game shine.

Image quality settings

  • Graphics quality HIGH
  • Vsync OFF
  • Antialiasing ON (ingame, presumably 4x AA)
  • Depth of field ON
  • Bloom/Glow ON
  • Motion and BLUR ON
  • Post processing ON
  • Flares ON
  • Shader & Shadow Quality HIGH

Now this is a little more serious. As scary as the game is ... so are the results.

Initially I heard from NVIDIA that this game could be 45% faster than the competing party. So we just had to check that out and yes, it's true. Dead Space shows off significant performance differences compared to the Radeon HD 4870 1024MB. That's very significant and a big win for the GeForce GTX 260 core 216.

Fallout 3

You know, it’s been a decade since the last Fallout release, and a lot has happened since then. Fallout 3 takes place roughly two-hundred years after a nuclear war devastated the planet. While the series originally started in Southern California, this time around you’ll find yourself in a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C., better known as the Capital Wasteland. You are a resident of Vault 101, one of a series of fallout vaults built to protect its inhabitants from the harsh conditions in the wasteland. As the story goes, in Vault 101, nobody enters - and nobody leaves. Raised as a child in the vault, the game begins with you as a young lad learning to take your first steps and continues as you grow older (this portion of the game is used as both a training mission and to build an affinity with your character). It isn’t until you wake up one day to find the vault in chaos - your father has somehow left and it’s up to you to follow him into the wasteland - where the story really begins.

Fallout 3 is an immersive, graphically stunning title with that awesome movie feel. Easily one of the best games of 2008, a must buy Gurus... a must buy.

Image quality

  • 4x AA
  • HDR enabled
  • Detail level: Ultra

I saved the best for last... there are very few games better than Fallout 3, so unless you dislike the genre it's the hottest game on the globe. Truth is, the GTX 260 core 216 absolutely adores this title and it shows, as it's roughly 10% faster rendering that gaming goodness on average, and that is pretty significant for sure.

For those interested in learning how to disable the framerate cap:

force the cap off by setting ‘iPresentInterval=0” in both “Fallout.ini” and “FalloutPrefs.ini” located in “User\Documents\My Games\Fallout 3\”.
