How long have you been a member of Guru3D forums?

I just joined Guru3D like a month ago.

What did you first come here for?

I was looking for forceware driver back when i had my Nvidia FX5200, so someone recommended me this site and found it pretty amazing! and now I am addicted to this site.

What do you mainly use the system for?

Totally gaming, and sometimes do my homework on it. I also love to watch TV on my Screen!

How much did you spend on the rig?

Overall around $3000 Canadian. Including the old parts.

How often do you update/buy a new rig?

Every year, or when ever any Need For Speed Series game shows less then 25 FPS :D

What components are used?

  • AMD 64 3000+ Socket 939
  • Gigabyte K8NF-9 Motherboard (love it)
  • Gigabyte 6600GT PCI-E @ 551 clock speed and 1050 Mem Speed:O (not overclocked) comes with HDTV output
  • 1 GB OCZ Premier Dual Channel DDR400 RAM
  • 16X LG DVD Burner

  • 80 GB SATA Western Digital HDD
  • 40 GB ATA-133 Western Digial HDD
  • And the most expensive part! Samsung SyncMaster 192MP LCD/TV on DVI
  • Sicuro Titanium XL light-up speakers

Why ATI or NVIDIA, why Intel/AMD?

I chose NVIDIA because I believe that it is the best video card company out there! I am sort of anti-ATI because once I had an 9200 SE and it really sucked in gamming. Yeah NVIDIA is expensive but they also give you quality for money!

AMD because as everyone knows that AMD socket 939 are the best processors out there, also I didn’t have much money when buying this system so I put in a cheap processor so that later on when I get the money, I can upgrade to an X2.

Does the system work as expected?

Yes, it sure does. I think I have the best system in all my friends. This system runs all the games on full setting at around 40-75 FPS. Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 runs at 75 FPS on ultra settings with a little bit of AA.

What sucks and should not have been bought?

Noting at all! I love all the parts of my system, because I took time to study all of them and then bought them! Here is a piece of advice for all you gamers out there! Never buy a system or any system part in a hurry! You will screw up!

Modified cases/video cards/other? Did you do it yourself? Walk us through it.

I have modified an X-box controller for PC, it works real great.

I cut a side window in my case using a hammer and a knife ?, lol it took me 3 hours to do it but looks cool!

I have 4 fans in my computer to keep it cool because I hardly turn off my computer. These fans are all connected to a custom made fan controller, this controller just turns them off or on.

3DMark scores?

3D Mark 2001 = 17000

3D Mark 2003 = 7000

3D Mark 2005 = 3700

Future upgrades?

Athlon 64 X2 4800+ and a 7 Series NVIDIA Graphics card, most likely 7800 GTX.
