Final Words and conclusion.
And that's where we end this petit little mini-review. I must admit that the card managed to surprise in terms of performance, pricing however will need to fall towards roughly 70 EUR for this card to really kick in. If you go for a 6600 series card, by all means do pick up the GDDR5 version with 1GB, as that is the only card in this and the lower range that will be worth the money when you want to play a game. Up-to 1600x1200 this card will chunk out decent enough performance to enjoyably play a game.
As mentioned in the 1st line of the review. We received the card a merely hours before the launch. There was no time for a full review. Sound wise I want to add a note here, expect a low roughly 39 DBa measured at 75CM for the entire PC. That's very silent.
The product remains what it is though, nothing extraordinary or special, just a refresh in the low end segment, for gaming. You can compare this product very well (perf wise) to say a Radeon HD 5750 which still costs 100 EUR, so from that point of view the 6670 is an interesting addition.
As always, next to low level gaming cards like these are dirt cheap and if you'd pick up a passively cooled version, it might work wonders inside a HTPC. The UVD 3 engine is grand, offers great image quality and accelerates + post processes your video content just extremely well.
Prices for AMDs low-end segment will look something like this:
- 6670 1G DDR5 : from 84.90 EUR
- 6570 1G DDR3 : from 65.90 EUR
- 6450 1G DDR3 : from 44.90 EUR
So overall for the average gamer with a monitor resolution under 1600x1200 pixels, the R6670 GDDR5 will make a decent enough alternative. Game performance will definitely be okay. So yes, a cute little card that packs plenty of performance in the low-range segment. And as such we can and will recommend it to the budget minded.
