Okay, this is the part where we move away from all the technical stuff and move on to the product photo-shoot followed by initial tests on heat, power consumption and noise levels. First up the photo-shoot.

Radeon HD 5870

So as you can see, here we have the Radeon HD 5870. Quite a charming fellah to look at really. It's encased completely and has that ridged cooling solution. the card is quite lengthy measuring 28 CM / 11 in.

When we flip the card around we see a nice backplate installed. I'm a big fan of this. there is much less risk of damage this way. The downside... it could trap heat. However, heat as we'll show you is not an issue with this product.

Connectivity. I think it is safe to say that we can leave the explanation of single and dual-link DVI behind us. It is incredible to see how much connectivity this card can deal with. With the standard reference Radeon HD 5870 we already have four digital connectors at our disposal, we spot two DVI, an HDMI and a DisplayPort connector.

If you like to go 3x 2560x1600? Dude, not an issue. It's that kind of flexibility I like very much.
