The Photos

On the next few pages we'll show you some photos. The images were taken at 2560x1920 pixels and then scaled down. The camera used was a Sony DCS-F707 5.1 MegaPixel.

HIS Radeon HD 3870 X2 review

Here's what to look for in the stores if you plan to buy a Radeon HD 3870 X2 from the good folks at HIS. Nice design by the way. HIS recently changed that. Let's have a look what HIS is bundling with the Radeon HD 3870.

Once we open up the box we spot that the graphics card is bundled with the HIS regulars. Everything you need to get connected is basically in there.

Bundled:

  • VIVO Cable
  • HDTV Output cable
  • DVI to VGA Dongle x 2
  • DVI to HDMI Dongle x 1
  • Crossfire™ Cable x 1
  • Manual
  • Driver CD
  • Half-life 2 discount coupon
  • Multi-purpose screwdriver

Let's have a closer look at the graphics card itself.

HIS Radeon HD 3870 X2 review

Though slightly longer than usual, at first sight you'd not spot that tyhere are two GPUs hiden under the hood. This HIS card follows 100% the reference design. So except for the stickers and boxed bundle, you will not spot a single difference. I'm actually glad not to see a big sticker on there as we now get a glimpse inside the cooler (said the true geek).

As you can see this is a dual-slot cooler, the beauty of the dual-slot cooling is that the heat released by the graphics card is not enclosed in your PC chassis. Contrary to it, it's exhausted outside the PC.

The one thing you need to check out and verify is whether the X2 will fit in your chassis. Normally this should not be an issue. The card remains within ATX form factor specifications yet is 27 CM in length.
